Corporate Social Responsibility
Corporate social responsibility (CSR) is no longer a luxury afforded by the few. Multinational and Indonesian corporations are struggling to find innovative and sustainable ways to bring benefits to the underserved and underprivileged in communities in which they work. Improving Lives, Building Livelihoods is IRD’s mission and makes us the ideal partner to help you reach those goals.

With 10 years experience in Indonesia, and programs in more than 20 countries worldwide, IRD brings proven capacity in the areas that matter most—assessment, planning, and design; program implementation and management; monitoring; and delivering results. With offices and staff throughout Indonesia, IRD can provide the right mix of local and international expertise to help you bring lasting change.

Our Approach
Implementing a sustainable and effective development program should not detract you from your core business. IRD’s approach enables you to be a benefactor and partner and encourages your involvement at any stage of the process.

We engage the community and stakeholders, listen to their needs, and assess opportunities, constraints, and community capacity.
We design, implement, and manage a program that is pragmatic yet visionary, with clearly defined targets and outcomes. Programs are designed for sustainability and to empower the people they serve.
We utilize local resources—whether financial, in-kind, structural, or human capital—augmenting these with international experts and other resources as needed.
We continually measure progress and outcomes, modifying programs as they proceed to ensure results.

We actively tell our story, generating positive public relations and increasing awareness of your brand and CSR investment.

The Benefits to You and Your Stakeholders
Whether your organization has a dedicated CSR team or is just beginning to develop a CSR approach, we are here to help. Our experts work with your existing team to develop, staff, and implement new programs, or we conduct the groundwork necessary to create a new concept, socialize it in the community, and get it off the ground. Either way, we are here to produce sustainable results for you and your stakeholders.

For the private sector—Direct business benefits are a key foundation of the CSR movement. CSR investments result in a stronger image for your firm and brand, increased competitiveness and reduced risks, positive press coverage, and a better understanding of the environment you serve, potentially leading to new products and services.
For NGOs and development organizations—Communities require external intervention to help address many of the development challenges faced today. IRD can provide project management from concept through evaluation, alleviating your worries about capacity and operations. With our history and extensive reach in Indonesia, we know our local partners and bring their local knowledge and capacity to our team.
For local governments—Limited budgets and capacities for development projects are just two challenges facing communities in a growing decentralized atmosphere. IRD works with local governments to build the bridges between the private sector and NGOs to help community leaders reach their goals of providing better opportunities and growth for their citizens.

Proven Expertise
With 10 years of operations throughout Indonesia, an existing network of five offices, local experts and the IRD pool of international staff and consultants, we have the resources to get you moving. IRD’s capabilities lie in six core areas:

Relief - IRD has distributed nearly $300 million of essential commodities—pharmaceuticals, medical equipment, clothing, food, water, hygiene kits, school kits, and blankets—to displaced people and disaster affected individuals around the world. We can respond quickly and work with your resources to get assistance where it is needed most during a crisis.
Economic Development – A robust economy, whether national or local, is the basis for improving lives and building livelihoods. IRD works at the community-level in four key areas to promote economic growth. These include sustainable agriculture, livelihood security, micro-enterprise development, and local economic development and planning.
Food Security – IRD is a leader in improving food security for the world’s most vulnerable groups. We have managed school feeding programs, developed production and distribution of enriched foods, implemented food-for-work and agricultural assistance initiatives, and developed agricultural and agribusiness value chain improvement projects.
Health - IRD has implemented programs in maternal and child health, HIV/AIDS, family planning and reproductive health, treatment of infectious diseases, nutrition, community-based primary health care, health education, and improvement of water and sanitation. We provide training for health professionals and build and manage health information systems and programs.
Infrastructure – IRD teams have provided buildings, water, sanitation, electricity, roads, schools, and other systems to vulnerable communities around the world. IRD works with local communities to identify needs and, in partnership with local governments, develops sustainable plans to address those needs.
